BE COOL!
To many of us, the word COOL is like the word success - we don’t always know what it is but we know it when we see it. It resonates with us deeply at our core level. We are attracted to it, admire it and spend our money on it. In fact, we all want to BE COOL ourselves! COOL is attractive! COOL works! COOL sells! How does one get hold of this magical way of being? Is it simply reserved for a few lucky souls who happened to be born with it? Or is it something that can be learned and put into practice in the life of anyone? How do we average citizens learn to BE COOL?
In researching the lives of the famous and not so famous, along with several companies who seem to have this unique quality, I have discovered there are certain key components that seem to be true of all of them. Though each differs in personality and approach there are some common traits that seem to always be present in the lives and corporate culture of the people and businesses that possess this endearing, attractive quality of “COOL-ness”.
In learning what unique traits these people and companies possess to BE COOL, I found the answer lies within the phrase itself. From this study I developed an acronym to better explain this mixture of special qualities they each use to create the essence of their unique cool approach to life.
B.E. C.O.O.L = Beliefs, Energy, Connection, Optimism, Originality, Love
Obviously, each of these qualities are major contributors to a mindset and way of thinking. Underpinning each of these six qualities are many principles worthy of exploration and development. From this standpoint, countless volumes of works have been written for years on each of these individual attributes to help guide people to live more successful, productive lives. No one can argue that, when independently developed, these qualities can have major impact on our individual experience of life.
However, I believe when these specific ingredients, and their underlying principles, are deliberately applied as one entity they create a unique recipe of thinking, acting and BE-ing that can help us develop a more powerful and synergistic mixture of thought and action to produce very COOL results in our personal and business lives.
I am a firm believer in developing the inner qualities of positive thought and emotion to effect change and progress in every aspect of our existence. In fact, I am of the opinion that 90% of our success or failure in life comes from within ourselves - as within so without. But I also believe unless these wonderful qualities are put into practical action it is meaningless “airy-fairy” hypothesis, like so much of the stuff thrown around these days by the “just see it and receive it” crowd. Frankly, you could go crazy thinking that way. We can all sit around visualizing and have positive emotions about success and personal development but until we radically transform our way of thinking and put it into effective action, it is meaningless theory.
Getting successful, ongoing results is the philosophy behind this work. To BE COOL is more than positive thinking and visualizing. It’s about what I call Positive BE-ingness. It’s about making dramatic changes in the way we see and interact with our world and even ourselves to create a life more in tune with our true nature. It’s about opening ourselves to new and better possibilities so we may break through the barriers that have been holding us back from experiencing life on our own unique terms.
My goal is to not only discuss each of these principles in depth so you may more effectively understand and develop these positive qualities but also give ways to incorporate each of the BE COOL principles into your daily life. The ultimate goal is to take these abstract principles out of the realm of thought and theory and show how to create amazing results in the real world i.e. to help you BE COOL from the inside out. The first component of the BE COOL philosophy is Beliefs
