Energy

“A thought is an action in the process of being born.” – Henry Thomas Hamblin

In the last section we learned we all live in our own unique universe that we’ve created as a result of our dominant beliefs and subsequent perceptions about ourselves other people, and life in general.

In reality, we have numerous personal universes we’ve created to function within the larger universe. We have our business and career universe, our personal relationship universe, our recreational and entertainment universe, our personal finances universe and so on. In fact, we even have multiple universes within each of our larger universes.

For example, within our personal relationships universe we also have our closest friends and relatives universe, our intimate partner universe and our parental universe just to name a few. In the act of living, and during the course of any given day, we enter a multitude of our personal universes at will, often overlapping each other at times.

As we enter into each of our universes we, by necessity, must change how we interact with each one. For example, If we attempt to interact with our intimate partner universe in the same way we interact with our business and career universe, we’re definitely going to have some problems. Conversely, we cannot do well in our business and career universe exerting the same type energy we expend in our interaction with our children or significant other.

Energy is the key word here. The degree and quality of energy we experience and exert determines the magnitude and quality of results we experience in every universe within our consciousness.

Science has proven that everything is composed of energy. Through the study of Quantum Physics we learn -everything in the universe, in every dimension and aspect of reality, is composed of “Quanta” of energy that constantly vibrates. It is intelligent and permeates everything that exists. The chair you sit on, your computer, your car, even your own body has its being within this infinite, intelligent energy. In fact, your very thoughts are composed of this same source energy.

As energy, every thought we think instantly influences the Quantum realm causing the quanta to arrange themselves into observable things or events. Everything in our existence is a result of our mental focus, a decision at some level of our consciousness that is should be there. Even what we visualize actually exist within the Quantum realm of possibility. With continued focus it can be brought into existence from within our imagination into the physical realm. This is the essence of how each of us creates our own reality.

In effect, this Quanta is spiritual energy and is the fundamental aspect of the mind of God, Higher Power, or the Source if you will. Regardless of your religious persuasion, or lack thereof, the fact remains that we, being created from the same energy, are really spiritual beings having a physical experience. There is a never-ending flow of this energy between the spiritual and physical realms of our existence.

BE COOL Principle #2

Thought is Energy. Energy Takes Physical Form Through Emotion.

We experience our personal universe through our five physical senses. There is a direct, yet intricate link between our mind and physical bodies.

Our thoughts take physical form through our emotions expressed within our body. What we feel becomes our reality in the physical realm regardless of whether our feelings are based on true facts or not. What we feel is what is real.

You may believe that you make logical, unemotional decisions but you do not. Everything you experience is a result of emotion based upon perceptions rising out of your core beliefs. There is an instantaneous movement of energy between mind and body that transmutes your beliefs into physical reality through the portal of your emotions. Our emotions then, are really E-motion, Energy in Motion.

For example, every purchase you make, from a car to a stick of candy, is based upon your feelings about those items. However, your conscious mind will search for a logical reason to either buy the item or not in an effort to balance the equation between logic and emotion. But your emotions are the driving force.

Why do you buy a Chevrolet instead of a Ford? You may have had a Ford once and had a bad experience with that particular automobile and formed a belief that Fords are not reliable. The thought of buying a Ford now triggers a negative emotion so you “logically cannot see” yourself owning a Ford. However, there are thousands, if not millions, of people in the world who have had good experiences with Fords and wouldn’t even consider a Chevrolet. So who’s right? Everyone, of course!

In the above example, when the negative emotion about Fords was triggered there was an energetic impulse (E-motion) that instantly passed through your body and manifested itself in your physiology. No matter how many facts are presented proving they are good cars, you now live your personal “truth” about Fords literally within body. It will remain an absolute truth for you unless you experience what is called a “quantum shift” in your thinking/perception of reality.

Now let’s suppose you are a NASCAR fan in your recreational universe. You follow a certain driver with enthusiasm believing him/her to be the very best and have strong beliefs about this driver’s competence and judgment. Let’s suppose this driver decides to start driving a Ford and consequently, wins the Daytona 500 in that car. Depending on how strongly you feel about this new development you may suddenly realize Fords are actually superior cars! Thus, a major shift in your belief system has occurred which changes the thoughts and emotions you now experience. What changed? Only your perception of what is “true” about Fords. This new perception creates new emotions fired off within your body. You now live a new truth about Fords.

The above illustration is the same process we all go through in every aspect of our lives when we form or modify our beliefs about ourselves, other people or anything in life. Every truth we “own” has been charged with emotional energy that passed through our body and manifested itself into our personal reality.

Every belief you formed as a child, for example, had some kind of emotional energy attached to it. If you grew up in a home where money was “tight” you may have experienced your parents expressing fear/worry emotions about money. As children, we often looked to our parents as role models and mimicked much of their physiology and emotional patterns. In doing so, you quite possibly fired off their same fear/worry emotions about money within your own body.

Now, when your conscious mind decides it wants more money, your “reality” about money is triggered in your subconscious and it goes to work to bring everything into your personal universe to validate your subconscious “truth” about money. Your conscious mind is literally fighting against your subconscious. Guess which one is going to win!

All the positive thinking and affirmations in the world will not change this truth unless there is a new reality created within your mind and body.

There is a direct correlation between the mind and body with each having impact and influence on the other. Each exists and functions like a 2 lane highway with the energies of thought and emotion passing back and forth continually modifying each other’s way of perceiving reality. Your body can affect your mind with the same intensity as your mind can affect your body.

This goes against much of what the “positive thinking” crowd espouses. Just think positive and you’ll act positive, they say. I believe they may have it backwards. Granted, positive thinking can be a good thing, but we don’t always feel positive and our body often begins to create resistance when we attempt to think positive and this resistance can actually makes us feel worse. Suddenly we’re not thinking positive anymore.

I suggest an alternative. Regardless of how the mind “feels” try changing your physiology and move positive first. Stand up straighter, walk faster, etc. When you do, your mind and emotions will react to this new stimulus, which affects your beliefs, thoughts and emotions, etc.

Now you have a new cycle of energy flowing between your mind and body, which creates new perceptions, creating new sensations in your body which changes your actions and, ultimately, your results. There is much truth in the adage: “Act the way you want to feel and soon you’ll feel the way you act.”

There are now emerging technologies that suggest this way of thinking is sound. Gary Craig, in his fascinating work regarding the correlation between mind and body - EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques – has this to say: “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”

He feels that conventional psychology may be off base because they focus on making changes in the mind yet ignore what is happening within their patients’ physiology where the negative emotions are manifesting themselves.

He goes on to give techniques that focus on altering, or correcting, the energy flow of the body that, in turn, creates major shifts in a person’s belief, thought and emotional patterns. He has an impressive list of documented case studies showing successful results to support his hypothesis. I highly recommend you take a look at his work in this area.

The people and companies who have developed the BE COOL way of thinking and acting display a high level of energy. You can literally feel the energy flowing from them. They have an unquenchable passion and are living, working and interacting with the world with an unshakable sense of purpose. Many people would just call it confidence. Perhaps.

I am convinced, however, what they are really tapping into is a potent mixture of clarified Beliefs about themselves and the world supercharged by dynamic spiritual, emotional and physical Energy. This synergistic mix creates an expanded awareness, i.e. a more powerful belief/perception system, about themselves and the world around them giving them a broader sense of the deeper meaning of life and their role in it, or what I call BE-ingness. In effect, they are in the flow of the never-ending energy connection between the spiritual and physical realms. This brings us to the next component in our journey to BE COOLConnection
